A wedding weekend #OOTD #FOTD

It's very seldom that I post up pictures of myself and my OOTDs, this will be one of those rare times that I felt that I looked decent enough to post online.

I have been exploring new cosmetic brands that are super dollar friendly and yet of AWESOME quality for the buck you are paying for. I am in love with Catrice's matte lipsticks!

Okay okay, I know I look like a drowned rat in drag with my wet hair in this picture. I promise it will get better in the next few pictures ok?

What's on my face:

Primed with Olay Regenerist revitalizing hydration cream moisturizer with SPF15. I personally swear by this and my skin loves and soaks it up every time I apply this on.

The Body Shop Seaweed Pore Perfector on my T-Zone (I cannot live without this for controlling my kuali-prone areas!).

Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream. A really nice moisturizing cream for under the eyes where I tend to go very dry. A little dot of this eye cream goes a LONG way!

For powder/foundation/concealer:

No surprise here. It's my holy grail to all concealers and I am never EVER going to change this. The Maybelline Instant Age Rewind concealer in the shade Medium. I  slap this under my eyes where I terribly need it most. I blame it on the late nights and me being a light sleeper. Blended in with my trusty Real Techniques makeup sponge.

I love my Amazonian clay full coverage airbrush foundation from Tarte when I cannot be bothered with liquid foundations yet I want to have a base that gives great coverage that is buildable.

I can't remember what I used for my eyes, maybe I will recreate this look and post up all the colors that I have used especially for my eye look. Otherwise, here's a photo collage of the basics that I used to finish my look off.

As you can tell, I am a big fan of drugstore makeup. You might surprise yourself how such simple brands may work better or just as well in comparison to higher end makeup.

See see! I told you the picture gets better and no longer like a drowned rat! I blow dried my hair and curled inwards to give it a vintage pseudo pin-up look.
**Pardon my messy unmade bed in the background. (I literally jumped out of bed and straight into the shower. I promise I made my bed after the photo was taken ok?)**

Well, it was my cousin's wedding and I had to show up and spend the whole day in my (borrowed) vintage kebaya top.
The color theme for the ladies was peach and men in batik. Well, this was the only 'peach' I could manage. Dug up my mess of the wardrobe and lucky me, I found a sarong that still fit, and matches the top.

I do hope that you like this post. Till then, happy holidays! Xx

The Body Shop Chamomile Cleansing Butter

I have been using the Olay Advanced Cleaning system and using a facial cleanser with it was a little bit of a pain in the butt with the cleanser flying off the brush head even before I got the brush to touch my skin. Then I heard about the Chamomile Cleansing butter from The Body Shop from essiebutton

So I popped by The Body Shop and got myself a tub of the cleansing butter, and two perfume oils (Indian Night Jasmine & Atlas Mountain Rose). Psst, always do check out the perks you can get before heading down to The Body Shop for any awesome promos during this GSS if you are a member.

Chamomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter:

(**description from the website)
**This cleanser is an indulgent make-up remover for the whole face. It gently and efficiently melts away make-up and impurities, leaving skin feeling clean, refreshed and pampered.

  • Gently melts away make-up
  • Leaves skin feeling clean and petal-soft
  • Removes all types of make-up
  • Suitable for sensitive skin and contact lens wearers
  • Priced at SGD26.90 at all The Body Shop outlets.

I do have normal/combination oily skin and I did not breakout from the use of this product. However, I did not make this a normal daily routine, I do use this product twice to three times a week with my Olay Advanced Cleansing System (which is soon to be replaced with a Clarisonic) where I want a deep cleansing after basic makeup removal with my Watsons cleansing wipes.

After cleansing, the face feels clean and supple without feeling tight. However you might like to use a warm washcloth to help remove all waxy/oily residual cleanser. Make sure that you do use warm water to help wash off all traces of cleanser.

The scent of the product is a beautiful, light floral scent which is non-offensive and just reminds me of a pretty young girl who has just picked fresh wild flowers from the fields (hey, I have pretty vivid imaginations with scents and taste, haha!)

Overall, I really love this cleansing balm for days that I really feel like pampering myself. Highly recommended!

    Three Beauties Pressed Powder

An impromptu trip to Mustafa Centre led me to wander across the makeup isles and wanting to try the classic Three Beauties pressed powder. Hey, it was $3.70 and why not give it a try?

I am in the shade 01 Natural. This product claims to be shine free, sebum control, non-comodogenic and has a flawless finish.

Verdict? I love it (apart from its slightly strong perfume-y scent, which I have come to overcome and doesn't bother me at all.) as an everyday powder which is cheap as chips! It doesn't melt off my face on super hot days and doesn't break me out at all. My T-zone is naturally oily with any pressed powder I use anyway so it's really a great one to have if you are on a budget or want to be a little adventurous in trying out 'underdog' brands of makeup. So far so good!

Let me know in your comments what other makeup brands which are always passed and surprise you. I would love to try out your suggestions!
