It is, the very woman, who now is responsible of moulding and inspiring the young, the importance of education and the importance of being able to get that job which pays for the roof over their head, the bills that comes like clockwork every time and the food that is put on the table.

I am the woman, who loves having her own herb garden, supports Adoption Drives for homeless pets, baking luscious molten chocolate lava cakes and Halloween-themed sugar cookies, says a constant prayer for her mum and makes sure to say "I love you" to her darling everyday, just in case, she never gets to do so the next day.

Never forget that fashion, is a multi-billion industry, the same one that give millions of people, be it in a third world country jobs and puts food on THIER tables from making that very same nubbly old granny panty that you wear underneath the greying sweatshirt which you never bothered to throw out despite the numerous holes from feeding silverfish in the closet.

It is the same industry that women, like me, who contributes to the world's economy despite the economic downturn, by purchasing the countless number of shoes and clothes that make their wardrobes full and take their husbands or boyfriends breath away when they go out for dinner. The same pair of heels, which accentuates the curves of a woman and in turn plays on the desires of the male counterpart and on THEIR shallow desires.

If it were to be said that the fashion industry is just playing with women's insecurities, isn't it the same industry that is targeting people who hides behind their computer monitor, commenting under a pseudonym and living sad, lonely lives. The same people who buys their clothing from piles of clothes in bargain stores, not realizing that the pile of clothes comes from the same people working in sweatshops in third world countries.

I don't take offense to whatever the person who commented on smh.com.au. about how my life is empty, despite the number of clothes and shoes I have. Actually, I thank you, whoever you are.

A reader from Australia, I presume, put dragonette and my blog as examples for the world to read. Love the sudden surge of traffic! THANK YOU! Even E@L agrees to that and I quote his comment on my Facebook "there's no such thing as bad publicity!" hehe

Hong Kong Shopping Haul

Did you guys have fun on the National Day Weekend? I sure did! My girlfriend and I decided to fly to Hong Kong for a quick shopping holiday. Didn't get what we wanted, that is, Christian Louboutin at SGD$200 (or SGD$300 even!) but it was all good! OMG, honestly, if you don't mind off season stuff, everything was going for a song at about 70% off!

We flew via Tiger Airways and stayed at Largos Hotel on Nanking Street, a few steps away from Jordan MTR and about two blocks away from Temple Street which we had seafood like there was no tomorrow! Their bamboo clams were soooo good and soooo cheap!

I fell in love with Hong Kong for its colourful and vibrant character (not to mention its warehouse outlet shopping haven :p), but what I did not like was, the smog and pollution that made my buggers black and icky when I blew my nose in the morning. Gross!! Nevertheless, Hong Kong, I will see you again :)

Ear studs. They were like SGD7 (or was it SGD$5) for a set of 3. I was particularly attracted to the 'sepak takraw' woven ear studs so I got them in both colors. Hehe

Stackable rings. These were too cute to miss!

Chilli red shirtdress. I love shirtdresses. I have them in white, olive, black, khaki... get the picture?

This was actually my girlfriend's. I accidentaly paid for it after it got into my basket. I tried it on afterwards and loved it! So its mine now heh! Sheer pink blouse. Perfect for work with a camisole inside or on flirty Sundays paired with shorts and pretty espadrilles.

This was the last item I found on my last walkthrough of H&M before I headed to the counters. The boyfriend blazer is very in style right now. Paired with jeans, jeggings (LOVE!), skirts and just adds an instant "posh" and "pizzaz" to an outfit. (Think Victoria Beckham or Kim Kardashian) I love love LOVE this blazer, it fits so well, and the cheeky hot pink lining on the black is just spells out my name. Girlfriend loved it so much and begged me to ask friends in Hong Kong to ship over a pair for her. She missed out on the blazer because she was trying on so much stuff in the dressing room while I was doing the final walkthrough.

I bought 5 empty jars to fill them up with MAC pigments for a friend. She wanted to buy every colour I had, so I filled them up with 1/4 (actually more) teaspoon of every piggies I had. I already had like 12 empty jars, but wasn't enough, so I bought more. 5 empty jars for $3.

Monistat Anti-Chafing Gel - Now, I know it sounds funny or icky, but there have been a lot of raves about this product. Used as a foundation primer, it helps your makeup stay put on your face longer. It contains the same active ingredient as expensive primers.

28-piece neutral palette - I don't have neutral eye colours believe it or not, and this is a really cheap alternative to have colours added to the collection :)

Mini-camouflage palette - I am almost running out of concealer, I got this because of the many shades I can use and blend according to my skin tone (I get really tanned at times so, this helps a lot! No opposite panda eyes!)

Essence of Beauty Deluxe Duo Face Brush set. No shedding so far, which is always good. I love the foundation and concealer brush. Helps 'paint' your foundation on and give that dewy finish.

Free ecoTools 6-piece brush set! Handles are made from bamboo, brush roll made from natural cotton and hemp and synthetic Taklon bristles which are surprisingly super super soft! You can try them at Watson's stores.

Had an itch to declutter. So I went out, bought myself an empty MAC palette and depotted all of my MAC single eyeshadows. I will not depot my mineral e/s or those that come in limited edition casings.

I used the straightening iron menthod of depotting and it was oh so easy! No mess :)

Needed retail therapy and some replacements for work basics. So one lovely Sunday, after some yummy dim sum brunch at Cherry Garden (Mandarin Oriental), I went shopping with the beau in tow. I like shopping with the beau coz he's got pretty good taste in women's fashion :) After a quick hour, I ended up with these:

.. that I stumbled across HER blog. (I am using caps to represent HER, because I do not want to mention names ok) Well, its not HER private blog, but still enough to give some revelations. Well, if I read correctly and by doing some math over some info I got over the internet, it could and would be right to say that SHE wrote about him! It wasn't a long entry but for that little paragraph. It was seriously a narcissistic and very mean entry. For all its worth, it just showed how much of an airhead, shallow bitch she is and for someone who writes in a leading woman's magazine, its bloody shocking!

I am very defensive over the people I love and for HER to dispel comments like that is truly unnecessary and pretty much I would just give HER a tight slap and ask "why the hell did you date him then? Why leave your stuff to 'mark your territory' when you don't even intend to stay long anyway? Desperate much?" Come on, just pretty obvious that you left for a much blonder, younger guy says so much already. From your desciption of the other guy whom you dates, handsome, ambitious, intelligent : but then you broke it off because you didn't feel a connection? Was this the one whom you were hoping to get married? The one you applied for the flat with? If you said that this was your immature self talking at the age of 24/25, don't you think you have the same thinking now? From what I read and see, it is pretty much the same sad, shallow superficial airhead. Give me a break!

Its that time again. When payday comes, I get all the essentials stocked up and ready for battle. Toiletries! I get them every two months. Ladies, I know you feel me. We don't use the same stuff on our hair, face and neither regions (beau: *rolls eyes*)

I get my toiletries from where I know sells cheaper than G***dian or W***ons. I save more than $50 every time I do my purchases.

I caved in to the rave. L'Officiel magazine was giving away Ed. Pinaud eyeshadow quads worth $59 with every magazine FREE! (price tagged at $6.90 at newstands) Worth every penny!

I got two of the last 3 copies available at the Cheers store near my place. The cashier was so awesome to let me open every plastic baggy and check which colours they were. The Cheers store had two #1s, and one #2 so, I grabbed one of each. Very pretty right?

Growing the tresses out!

Have been trying to grow out my hair for the longest time ever and its gotten to almost where I want the length to be. The aim:

Dark shiny long tresses like Nicole (her killer abs included)

Or the gorgeous Kim :) me likey!

My hair was in a mess when I permed and bleached it years back. I decided to chop them all off and let it regrow. Oh the pain of having SHORT UGLY MINAH FRIED YELLOW HAIR is just too painful. I know hate is a strong word to use, but yes, that was how much I hated it! I couldn't do much for a while because it would do more harm than good for the hair.

I resorted to hair serums/tonics to help encourage healthy hair growth. I tried Kaminomoto Hair Growth Accelerator (about $20+ from Watsons, but I got my supplies cheaper at my 'secret' super cheap toiletries haunt) I know it sounds funny, but it does help! But you gotta remember that good blood circulation helps hair growth, use the tips of your fingers or a good hair brush to get the blood circulation going every day and night.

Hair masks once/twice a week ( I used more than that because the hair was too dry!) I cheated a bit coz I used the hair mask as a conditioner sometimes when I felt the hair frizzed up too much in out stinking hot humid weather!

I used the L'oreal Smooth Intense Anti Frizz Hair mask. Verdict: Pretty good, hair smells great and smooth after the wash. Obvious tamed hair. I have a LOT of hair on my head. When I say that, my hairdresser says that my whole head of hair is equivalent to THREE normal heads. Yup. He told me to NEVER come to him if I wanted extensions (it would cost a bomb anyway. How does at least $500 sound to you for hair extensions?) because he'll have his arms fall off the shoulder sockets once he's done with my hair. Perhaps I must treat him to lunch everytime I go visit him now :p *guilty*

Newest item on the market, the Essential Damage Care Hair Mask Series :) There are two tubs available. The Essential Damage Care Nuance Airy and the Essential Damage Care Rich Premier range. I love both of them! I alternate the tubs ever week of usage to get bouncy and well moisturized hair. I swim quite a bit every week and I love diving, so these factors add on the damage to my hair. I did darken my hair a few months back to get rid of the ugly minah rust colour left from the initial massacre.

Verdict: I love them! They make my hair smells so nice that I kep on 'schwing schwinging' my hair everytime I used them. About $10 per tub at Watsons :)

I do slap on a bit of stuff on my hair especially if I am styling my hair. I use the curling iron and hair dryer a lot so I do make sure that at least I put on some form of heat hair protectant on my hair. I use the L'oreal Liss Ultime Reflexium thermo smoothing oil. This is used specially when I am blowdrying or curling my hair. Here's the pic. Salons sell them at $30-$45 and rip you guys off, but I get them at my regular toiletries shop and get it at a fraction of the price :)

The last item that is in my toiletries basket in the bathroom is L'oreal Lumi Oil Smoothing Essence. I use this after towel drying the hair in the mornings when I am lazy to get the hair dryer plugged in, or when I'm done with blowdrying (plus heat protectant) at the ends to smooth out the frizz and keep the hair in place. Just a small squirt will do. This will weigh down your hair if too much is used. I use half a pump and its more than enough for the whole head so you ladies who have less hair than I do, a tiny squirt will do fine :) I use the L'oreal Lumi-Oil number 3. There are a few levels available, for permed hair, curly hair, colored hair, etc. I have rebonded hair so, I use level 3. This retails for $30-$45 in salons as well (bloody ripoffs!) PM me for details to get cheaper toiletries :)

I can't help but laugh at this whilst nomnomnom-ing my Fillet O Fish Macca's brekkie at my desk. Not a pretty sight with tartare sauce on my lips, mouth full with yummy soft bun and chuckling like an old fool with no teeth.

World Tricot founder is suing Chanel for 2.5million Euros after she spotted a crochet design in a Chanel boutique. I was chuckling to myself because, I am imagining old ladies, sitting around a table, or in front of the tv on a rocking chair knitting. Then the end products sold to high end luxrury powerhouses. Hmm... should I dig up my mom's knitting craftworks (hey, she made awesome pullovers with cable designs and all you know!) and then try selling to Armani Exchange? Or learn to knit - actually I can knit, but all I can make is miles and miles of shawls/scarfs, mummy bandage - this one must be hilarious if knitting was invented during the times of Pharoahs (think King Tut with a turtleneck).

The company, used to have 90 employees in 2001, but now they're only left with 12 after the clash with the Titans. Haiyah, thats, 12 more people who will end up jobless if the company go bust. Then its back to knitting pseudo-designer baby booties and cashmere berets in front of the tv or the front porch.

Was fashionably and embarrasingly late. Got lost and drove along the same road TWICE. I hate the CBD. ERP gantries everywhere and everytime you make a wrong turn, you get out of the restricted area and then you have to pass yet another gantry. My stomach does a squeeze and a flip everytime I drive under those big blue things and my IU unit go 'beep'. STOP TAKING MY MONEY ALREADY!

I cp-ed two eye-jellies from a friend who went to Japan recently.

*LOVES*

Verdict: Smells yummy, texture super smooth when swatched. Colour payoff is pretty good, applies sheer when you want a nice soft shimmery colour and intensifies** when you pat more on.
** Not the kind of intense colour you expect from a MAC eye colour though.

NTS: Bring camera at all times. The HTC Diamond has the suckiest camera quality EVER.

R had a mission. Buy new top for her tea party this Saturday. OK, I think something simple, clean lines and definitely one for both work and play. R looks good in teal! This soft knot top is light enough for not-so-blistering-hot days and doesn't cling on the bulges (and adds a bit of structure which I like)

I was wearing the pregnant woman dress from Cotton on, my red+white nautical wedges from Charles& Keith, waist elastic belt from Chinatown and my trusty Balenciaga.

Argh! Ugly picture again!

Miss Loveforheels didn't indulge in anything that day despite the gorgeous dresses that called out my name, brushing my skin with their pretty chiffons, polyester blends and synthetic cottons. Hurhur. Just you wait ladies, I'mma coming for you when I get my paypacket! Rah!

It has been a year of dating and the significant other, otherwise known as Mr Big or better known as Mr Incredible, surprised me with an abso-fuckin-lutely gorgeous pair of Christian Louboutins. I couldn't say much but I was (and still) all smiles and simply put, in ecstacy :)

Was browsing through one of my fav online shopping website, ASOS.com and I found these!

Gorgeous quilted clutch with silver hardware at GBP19.14 !!! So chic and adds that pizzaz to that plain dress which always seem lonely, for sure!

While the boys were cursing and swearing at Cylons and hybrids, I kept myself busy giving myself a manicure with my new nail polish :) Decided to go for the lovely shade of fuschia for the whole summer look.

20 mins till E arrives with R. Me no drive, me in pain thanks to the weekend huff-and-puff @ Sentosa. We're heading to Queensway to get R's $20 jeans. "Cheap cheap, good good, last long long" As R says... cool!

Queensway is a good place to get sports gear, jeans (if you don't mind the no-brand jeans for a steal) and stuff, you'll never know what you may find for your needs and tastes. Cowboy boots? Lumberjack Jeans?

I ended up getting 2 pairs of FBT running shorts at $12 each. one in total black, and the other in black with a hot pink stripe almost on the trim of the shorts. Matchy-matchy with R! We're not planning to tell S about our matchy purchase (hehe! we love you, S)

Then we headed to Far East Plaza for some 'old school' eats at Cahaya Restaurant. I think the last time I had a meal there was at least 3 years ago. Nothing personal, but the food there isn't as good as I remembered and the smell of food just sticks to your clothes even if you just walk pass the eateries.

We wandered through the shops and there is this outlet which sells Mondo shoes at a bargain. Its like a bargain bin in a whole shop! Shoes as cheap as $3, $9.90 or $15.90 If you look around slowly, you might be able to find pretty heels, wedges, or strappies. I found silver pointy heels, with silver heels (very fierce) at $15.90 per pair, awesome black strappies at a steal for that dressy night out, platinum peeptoe wedges which can bring you from work to play. I dug up some treasures for R (new bf lah, totally inspired to look pretty you know!). She ended up with 2 pairs of shoes at $25!!! Bargain or what!

At this point, I was feeling kinda jealous that she got an awesome loot and I remembered that I was supposed to check Heatwave out for black strappy heels. I have trouble finding strappies which won't make my toes look like crinkle cut fries even more than they are now. I found this backless strappy black pair which is so so pretty :) at $39.90 after discount. Yay!

Next stop, Skin Food. Needed to get nail polish. Naked toes with no colour look ugly on me. With the current economic crunch, I decided to give my own pedicures and manicures and save that dollar for other indulges :)

So we ended the day with some tea at Starbucks United Square, a cuppa Camomile tea for R and a cuppa Berryblossom tea for me... Life's tough :)

I love shopping*, well, so does any other woman. I'd call them a liar if they said they don't like to shop. Whether its shoes, bags, clothes, makeup or even books and stationery, its still shopping! Inspired by my ever so enthusiastic girlfriend, R, I decided to to drop the emo, and blog about my wardrobe, tips for finding the awesome-most deals and steals and Sales Sales SALES!!!

Not everyone can afford a $400 dress paired with $200 shoes (even if they are already 70% off retail price...) In my humble opinion, looking good doesn't require you to break the bank. All it takes is a good eye and open mind to the endless possibilities the fashion and retail world has to offer! :)

Here's to shoppaholics (including those who are in denial of being one)! xoxo
